Our Team

Dr. Maggie has always had a passion for animals and decided to pursue her dream of becoming a Veterinarian in Madison WI. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine, she joined our team in 2017.

She enjoys forming relationships with her clients and helping them care for their pets. Her special interests include internal medicine, feline health and wellness, and end-of-life care and grief counseling.

She lives in Sun Prairie with her husband, two dogs and several cats. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and hiking in the beautiful Wisconsin outdoors. She also loves fostering and adopting rescue animals. She is passionate about providing excellent care to all our patients!

Dr. Megan Hawkins

She is a graduate of UW-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine. She spent 8 years practicing small animal medicine in a variety of clinics in Wisconsin before finding her passion for in home end of life care in 2019. She is certified in pet loss and grief companioning, and is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association and Dane County Veterinary Medical Association.

She and her husband live on a small farm in Mount Horeb with their two rambunctious rescue dogs, a flock of chickens and some livestock. She enjoys agility training with her dogs, painting and hiking. She also loves traveling to new places.

Dr. Jess Leuthner

Shelby has loved animals her whole life and wanted to study medicine because she felt like she could help make a difference in the world. She has had a lot of experience with animals through owning her own pets and starting an organization to rescue and rehome local stray cats.

She is excited to be back in Madison and be part of a great team of doctors! She loves to travel, hike and spend time with her rescued kitty. She is also a big fan of dance and anything artistic! She is currently attending Madison College to become a Veterinary Technician. She will be graduating next year.

Dr. Catie Hawkins

She loves developing a relationship with pets and their owners. She is particularly fond of animal behavior and Fear Free handling, as well as end-of-life care and geriatric medicine. She enjoys connecting with people while easing the suffering of their pet in the comfort of their home.

She and her husband live in Stoughton with their shepherd/husky mutt and Saddlebred gelding. She also has a flock of chickens and a house rabbit. They enjoy spending time outdoors, hiking, biking and doing yoga.

She grew up with many cats and dogs, so she has always been very interested in helping pets and their owners through difficult times. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening and collecting rocks.

Dr. Beth Wilder

Beth grew up in central Wisconsin and graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. She has been working at Gehrman Animal Hospital since 2020. She has a special interest in dentistry and client education. She also volunteers with the Street Dog Coalition and is one of their lead veterinarians.

In addition, it is important for all people to respect the gender expression and identity of transgender, non-binary, and non-conforming individuals. This includes avoiding the use of pronouns that are not consistent with an individual’s gender.

Dr. Christine Schaller

Christine is a Family Practitioner who offers comprehensive health care for individuals & families. She diagnoses & treats illnesses, as well as helps patients prevent diseases through routine checkups & education.

She graduated from UW veterinary school in 2017 and spent 5.5 years in small animal and equine private practice before joining JHPE full time in 2018. She enjoys connecting with clients in their homes and truly believes that the human-animal bond is a special connection to be honored.

She and her husband share their home north of Madison with two spicy Siamese mixes, a rambunctious horse, & chickens. They enjoy gardening, hiking, and camping during Wisconsin’s beautiful summers.

Dr. Kitt Schaller

As a child, Schaller enjoyed arts classes, anything that allowed her to express herself creatively. She credits her art teacher, Miss J, with encouraging her to pursue a career in art therapy.

After graduating from UW Veterinary School, she practiced in small animal and equine private practices for 5.5 years before joining Journeys Home in 2019. She feels honored to be able to offer this important service to pet parents and their pets.

She lives south of Madison with her husband and their spicy siamese mix. In her free time, she enjoys boating, camping and riding her motorcycle. She also loves painting and creating art pieces. She teaches art classes at a local preschool.

Dr. Anna Uhl

Bethany has always had a special kinship with animals and felt a calling to work in the animal field. She loves the fast pace of a vet clinic and the daily interactions with clients and their pets. She particularly enjoys cats and soft tissue surgery.

She lives in Madison with her husband, two kids and their three rescued pets, a dog named Roxy, a cat named Turbo and a bearded dragon. In her free time she enjoys spending time outdoors and camping with the family.

She joined the Journeys Home team to expand the services offered by the practice and help more pets have a peaceful end of life. She also has a strong interest in pet behavior and Fear Free handling.
